A FULL LENGTH INDEPENDENT COMEDY FILM

‘CTRL AI DELETE’ IS A COMEDY FEATURE FILM THAT WILL BE CROWDFUNDED FROM THE GROUND UP!

Title: "Ctrl AI Delete"

Plot: When the world's most sophisticated AI unexpectedly goes rogue—the technologized world plunges into mayhem. In the epicenter of this chaos is a diverse group of video game aficionados at a retro gaming expo. Armed with nothing more than their vintage gaming consoles, floppy disks and classic home computers, these unlikely heroes must outsmart the most formidable digital intelligence ever devised.

What it’s really about:

It’s an 80s hacker movie, set in the modern day - and in an age of 24-hour connectivity - it’s a love letter to an era when computing and gaming was a lot simpler. More importantly, at it’s emotional core, ‘Ctrl AI Delete’ is about how a group of very ordinary friends dig deep and find a courage and resourcefullness they never new they had, in order to fight against a global disaster.

Why ‘Ctrl AI Delete’?

  1. Originality: Say goodbye to cookie-cutter comedies. This is a proudly retro, independent comedy movie with an ironic, cheeky and slapstick take on humor that will keep you laughing long after the credits roll.

  2. Heartfelt Moments: Beyond the laughs, this film aims to deliver touching moments that will tug at your heartstrings and resonate with audiences of all ages.

  3. Independent Spirit: This project will not happen without your help! Crowdfunded from the get-go, by supporting this independent film, you are championing creativity, diversity, and the power of storytelling that goes beyond mainstream cinema.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of growing something really special. Join our mailing list and watch our social channels in readiness for the Kickstarter coming summer of 2024!

A TALENTED ENSEMBLE OF UP-AND-COMING ACTORS, WILL BRING TO LIFE A QUIRKY BAND OF ENDEARING GEEKS.

The Characters:

Smit - Elite level underachiever. His only claim to fame could have been as a legendary speed-runner on the arcade game ‘Star Dash’. Unfortunately, his gaming prowess remains largely unnoticed as he struggles with his unremarkable aspirations to make supermarket manager. Now, he faces an unexpected chance to shine in a chaotic world desperate for a hero.

Smit Snr - Smit’s dad and one-time Speed Running World Champion - the practice of completing video games in the fastest time possible. He now fixes old arcade games in his garage.

Lisa - Smit’s former (and only) girlfriend, is a compassionate peri-operative nurse at the local hospital, known for her calm demeanor and insightful nature. These qualities once captured Smit's heart and might have rekindled their romance, if it weren't for her current boyfriend, Rob, a ruggedly charming coastguard.

Psy - Local tech support tycoon, has a knack for old computers that could be just what the gang need to crack the AI’s control.

Marsha - by day the real brains behind boss Psy’s tech support empire, by night a game streamer.

Carrie - Professional cosplay costume designer, the heart and soul of the group’s passion for the annual Retro Gaming Expo.

Dean - Carrie’s boyfriend, perennially on the dole, a hopeful schemer always on the brink of his next 'get rich quick' idea.

Ginger Morcombe - Entertainer & illusionist, at least that’s what he says - ‘temporarily moonlighting’ as expo venue manager.

Agneta - One of Lisa’s most seriously ill young patients for whom the global AI glitch will have terrible consequences unless the gang can get the power back on!

“IT’S NOT THE MACHINES THAT DEFINE US - IT’S THE HUMAN SPIRIT”

-HOMELESS DENNIS, CTRL AI DELETE

As Homeless Dennis insightfully remarks to Smit on page 5 of our script, ‘It’s not the machines that define us—it's the human spirit.’

This poignant observation isn't just central to our film's plot; it has become a guiding mantra for our entire project. Every image on this website, along with the test footage and crew interviews featured in our pitch video (coming soon), was captured by a dedicated cast and crew using their own equipment, without compensation.

This endeavor to create a feature film is defined not by the equipment we use, but by the passion and spirit of everyone involved—including you. This massive undertaking will only transform into a completed film with the help of a broader community of supporters. Join us, and become part of this exciting cinematic journey.

WE REALLY DO NEED YOUR HELP

Right now we’re hard at work trying to get our Kickstarter Campaign ready. We have a fabulous introductory video that we’ve shot and are now editing, featuring our lead actor, Josh Haddock, some extras, and the key members of our crew - just so we can offer you a taste of what we’re hoping to achieve. The challenge we face is that all this work rides on just a four-week Kickstarter run - hence this website and this request for your email. By signing up to our mailing list, which we will only use for news updates about the project, you are helping to give the project a boost off the launch pad, once the campaign goes live in Summer 2024. You have absolutely no obligation to support our Kickstarter, we just ask that we have the chance to tell you all about it!

So, go for it, let us send you some cool updates and let’s see if we can make this extraordinary project happen.

Thanks!

“I’VE ALWAYS FELT THOSE OLD MACHINES HAVE A LIFE FORCE… AN ENERGY MADE UP OF ALL THE PEOPLE THAT PLAYED THEM. ALL THE WINS, THE LOSSES, FRUSTRATION AND THE JOY, SOAKED INTO THE CIRCUIT BOARDS OVER DECADES.”
